MEP Services Section

INTRODUCTION

Mechanical and Electrical services always form part of any development be it Buildings or Infrastructure. It is very important to make sure the services are designed, installed and commissioned to the International Standards.

The MEP Services Section (MSS) is part of Building Permit with the vision of checking Services Design particularly HVAC Design. The MSS aims at ensuring compliance of the installation of Services with Local Standards, Internationals Standards and Project Specifications for the best interest of the Client.

MSS PERSONNEL

The MSS staff consists of a group of professional engineers specialized in Mechanical and Electrical Services focused on fulfilling their duties through proper advice and transparency with construction personnel. Continuous improvement of their technical and communication skills is what MSS adopts for increasing job efficiency and raising its standards.

SCOPE OF WORK

The MSS scope of work covers review and approval of all Services Drawings and Design Calculations related to construction industry in the MEP services sector such as HVAC heat gain calculations and design drawings, related Electrical Drawings, etc…

The requirements of the MSS are mainly those of Local and International Standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, BS-EN, IEE, DEWA-E, DEWA-W, Etisalat, Du …) and Local Regulations (DM Standard for HVAC Heat Gain Calculations and Drainage Standards). The Yellow Code, “Urban Planning & MEP Services Regulations & Technical Guidelines” outlines the basic and minimum requirements for building a simple but effective system for controlling the quality of MEP Installations. The Yellow Code is also covered under the Accreditation Program run by CED where trained and qualified MSS’s Engineers carry out the facilitation for this program.
